Dulwich Books Book Groups

Dulwich Books Shop FrontWelcome to the Dulwich Books reading group home page. Here you will find everything you need to know about joining a book or reading group in the Dulwich area.
We currently have two reading groups, an original group started at the beginning of 2011 which is now full.
A second group began in 2013 focusing on the work on debut novelists, and this group is now full. We are considering starting a new group in 2016 and if you would like to join in  please email your details to hello@dulwichbooks.co.uk

We like to think we are a friendly bunch of book lovers and as long as we have space, welcome new members.

Most sessions will take place at Dulwich Books, commencing at 6.30 for the both groups. Refreshments will be provided by the bookshop.
Original Reading Group: The regular format will focus on a chosen title that everyone reads between the meetings and comes along ready to discuss.
* Each member, who attends the meetings, will take turns at nominating the next book we will read.
* The person who nominates will chair the next meeting when “their” book is discussed.
* When nominating we will try to offer two or three titles to give the group a choice.
As a group we want to range across all the genre, embracing the challenge of diversity – fiction, non fiction and even poetry.

Debut Novel Reading Group: The format will differ slightly, as books will usually be nominated from a selection of newly released titles at each meeting. We will be looking at the First Novel nominees from the Guardian and Costa, as well as new local authors and anything else that catches our eye. Please feel free to suggest any great debut novelists you know of! We are always on the look out for interesting new talents. We are currently a fairly small group, so the meetings are very informal, with no real chairperson. More of a bookish chat, with tea and biscuits.
